Adventures in TypePad Hacking
Earlier in the week Easton Ellsworth of BusinessBlogWire gave Search Marketing Gurus a BlogTip and sent a few new readers our way. Easton also gave me a tip - to permalink the titles for the entries we write.
I wondered how I missed that when I first set up the blog, and did one of the palm to forehead "doh!" motions and went on my way to TRY and fix that issue, easy & right away. HA! Not so easy. I searched high and low and couldn't figure out how the heck to get the entry titles to link. I searched TypePad's Knowledge Base - to no avail.
Finally I went out to the trusty old Search Engine Google and did a search on "How do I make an entry title a permalink in TypePad", first few results I saw above the fold weren't anything close to what I needed but I scrolled down to result #8 and bingo! I've now been introduced to the world of TypePadHacks.org.
Warning, most of these hacks aren't for the basic blogger. You do have to have a bit of understanding of HTML and Templates and how they all work together. You also have to be using the Advanced Templates to implement this hack.
I just wonder though, why TypePad/Six Apart makes it so darn tough to link your entry titles, in my opinion that should be just a "yes/no" option when you set it up. Unless of course somehow I missed that in the beginning, but I don't think I did.

Seriously - where's the simple radio button option when you need it? Thanks for going through the hassle to honor my suggestion anyway, Li!

Hi Li,
The permalinked titles hack is slated to become a standard feature at TypePad in the near future… I can't put an actual time on when it will happen but I know that the design team has decided to implement it for all users.
