Bloglines Not Updating?
I left home today around 1:30 (EST) and before I left, I checked my Bloglines and read up on any thing new that came in overnight. All seemed to be fine when I was reading, there was actually a bit there to go through. I come home about 7:30 (EST) tonight and open up Bloglines and to my surprise there's not a single item updated. I found this rather odd since I've got over 140 different feeds currently in my list and undoubtedly SOMETHING updates in the space of 6 hours.
Out to Technorati I go, pop in a search of the blogs and I'm able to decipher that I'm not alone, apparently it's happening to everyone. However, there's no mention of this on Bloglines main page that greats you when you log in. Both items,of course, disappoint me and I immediately start to feel really "out of touch". Amazing what not having access to the latest information will do to a news junkie.
I decide to head over to Google Reader and try it out, after I export my subscription list to opml. I upload it to Google and start poking around. Immediately I find myself annoyed, there's no way that I can say "show me all the new postings in the last 12 hours" (or XX hours for that matter). I look around and I just find myself getting more annoyed by the lack of ease.
Perhaps I'm just stuck in my ways - but I really like Bloglines. Google's Reader just comes off as "junky" to me. Lots of big "flash" but not easy to figure out how to use and get around like Bloglines is.
So now I will just have to wait till tomorrow to catch up on everything else. I guess I'm a Bloglines evangelist, I love the site and its services. I just don't like seeing that "Plumber" character on a consistent basis!
