Google Donates to Senator Ted Stevens' Campaign (R Alaska)

I was reading Inside Google this evening, Nathan Weinberg has a post on "Who are Googlers supporting?"  I read down the list, I'd say 90% of them are democrats, which wasn't surprising.  In fact I almost just scrolled through it, until I actually caught site of a republican in the mix.

I almost had to blink twice, no I correct myself, I did blink twice when I saw who it was they donated too.  Remember that "the Internet is made up of a series of tubes?"  Yes, Google donated $1,000 to the campaign of Senator Ted Stevens.  I wonder if it's to help him upgrade his computer system so he can use Google to find out we've upgraded to the hamster in the wheel version of the Internet these days.
