International Women will Ask for Directions but will Yahoo! hold the Answers?

It has been a while since I did a Search Marketing Gurus Link Roundup, and from the crazy title, that's what I've got for you tonight.  I've been saving posts in my bloglines, but I just haven't had the time to put these all together.  So tonight I've made it a point to sit and share the great posts I've been reading and highlighting, waiting for a night to include them in a link roundup.

• Jim Hedger (one of my favorite WMR hosts) reminds us all that it's International Women's Day.  Jim names some great women in search, that I could only wish I could interview for SMG!  (Hey Matt, what are my chances of interviewing Marissa for our weekly series?)
• I love the shoutout's Antman does.  This week's shoutout is to the creators of the dictionary, that's right folks, Wikipedia isn't an original idea, imagine that!
• Valleywag, is one of my guilty pleasures.  Can I help that I love "snarky" things?  Anyway, this morning I found a neat little piece about how advertisers find Facebook as a consistently poor performer.  I was really intrigued with this, so I posted it for discussion on Cre8asite forums, come on over and join the conversation.
• Barry's got a great post on his results with using Flickr and how it drives traffic to his blogs.  He also did a really neat Screen Cast today too.
• Speaking of that Screen Cast, Ask City showed off this really neat-o (yeah I said neat-o) shape tool that has been integrated with its map service.  Just draw a shape on the map, and then you can search the local results within that shape.  It can be a square, a circle or even a straight line.  This would have came in handy 2 years ago in San Jose when Matt Bailey was trying to find a bar that was still open near Studio 8!
• Loren's got the scoop on Yahoo! Answers adding a social networking piece.  Personally I think this is a great add to that service.  The community that Yahoo has created there, is a really dedicated community and a lot of fun, I love just reading the answers they provide.  Loren's even included a video piece with his article.  BTW, I think Loren updated his photo too! ;)
• Lee, one of the nicest guys in this business, has a resourceful post on using Press Releases as a marketing tool.  Being a gal who's got "one of them there" public relations degrees, I couldn't agree more with all his points.
• My fellow forum moderator, Chris, has the scoop on becoming a top DiggR, in a completely legitimate way.  Speaking of that place I have a love/hate relationship with, they just hit a million registered accounts - now really how many users that is is anyone's guess, perhaps, divide by 5? I think Danny suffers from the same conflicted love/hate feelings, too.
• Brian's got a super proposal of his own for Jessica Alba.  Cameron thinks its like stepping on hand grenades, though!
• Over at SEO By The Sea, Bill's got an extensive Google Local Search Glossary, you should definitely check this out if you are the least bit interested in Local Search.
• The forever YouTube/Google hater, Mark Cuban, has a bone to pick with YouTube/Google - surprise, surprise!  Seems that his motion picture company, Magnolia Pictures (not to be confused with the social bookmarking service) has found some of their copyrighted works on the service and wants them pulled down.
• Hat-tip to the folks at Threadwatch for discovering Google experimenting with fonts in their ads.
• The Small is Beautiful column is back on SEL, this time one of the smartest ladies in the business gives us a great article in "Small is Nimble."

  • New Mexico has welcomed Pluto back into the family
  • Indiana Jones has got a son!  Who's the momma?  I think it's Cate Kapshaw's character in IJ2 Temple of Doom, since rumors are that she's suppose to reprise her role in IJ4.  BTW, word also is Sean Connery is back too!
