A Day of Congratulations

Today was a day for a few announcements in our industry.  There's a lot of awesome collaborations going on in our industry and it's just really great to see great opportunities happening to great people.

First my sincerest congratulations from myself and undoubtedly the entire SMG team as we applaud Kim Krause Berg joining Matt Bailey's SiteLogic team.  Matt , you have gotten yourself a great person and a awesome usability professional with Kim.  My only "boo hoo" is that we at Commerce360 didn't swipe her up first (trust me I was working on it!).

Kim still gets to keep Cre8pc and Cre8asite Forums, which is a relief to hear.  Cre8site forums is a really nice place where people of all skill levels come to talk about all sorts of search issues, and Kim as it's owner and "head cook" contributes significantly to it.  Kim is also an excellent source of information on usability, her experience and skills in this area are top notch.  Matt has definitely found a great match for SiteLogic.

Next congratulations goes out to Avinash Kaushik on the release of his book "Web Analytics, An Hour a Day".  I can tell you that our entire office at Commerce360 was really buzzing when the books arrived!  I've got my copy sitting right here next to my laptop so that when I'm done writing this post, I'm off to dig into the pages and the interactive CD that's included with the book.

Avinash is a first time author, so he doesn't have a lot of publicity going on from a crack team of marketers.  However what he does have is an entire community of web marketers who read his blog. Without a doubt his readers, who, like me, are likely reading the book over the next few days, will write reviews and recommend the book.  From what I've just skimmed of it, and read on Avinash's blog post - I'm already impressed. 

A few last words about Avinash's book.  He's donating all the royalties to charity and he's sponsoring a contest!  If you take a picture of yourself with his book and send it to him and you are one of the first 200, he'll send you back a autographed bookmark.  The SMG team at Commerce360 got into the spirit of things (and see yes, I'm hinting at Bill to write for us!).
