I know it's been a while since I contributed to Li's SMG and the fact that this doesn't sound like a typical SEMGeek.com type of blog post, but I had this urge inside of me to tell you what is going on in my personal life and how it's relating back to Internet Marketing and in particular Paid Search. My wife and I have been pursuing overseas adoption for the past 3 years. It's something that is very dear to our hearts and we have been active where we have tried adopting from Kazakhstan, but that didn't work out because they changed their program and made it almost impossible to continue. Then we changed our program to China where we heard so many great stories about how fast it was to adopt a baby girl, the referrals and medical histories are up to date, etc... But as in life, things don't always work out the way you want, and now we are waiting much longer than anticipated, and at times we feel like we'll never get a child.
Well, you are probably wondering, what the hell does this have to do with Paid Search. Well, my wife and I had an appointment with a Domestic Adoption Attorney last week and she was telling us about the domestic program, and then she started talking about the process for getting leads, (which is basically birth mothers who are willing to give up their baby for adoption), and they are finding it increasingly difficult to get good, qualified leads lately. However, she told me "Were hearing a lot about this Paid Internet Marketing thing and that will help us get more leads. I said "hmmn, funny you say that because that is exactly what I do for a living." So the conversation went from the process of adopting a child to providing them with ideas on targeted keyword expansion, geo targeting, CPC's and expected lead conversion rates.
So, as I expected, my wife told the attorney "My husband will take care of all of your internet marketing needs, etc..." So, in a nutshell, I will be providing her with a mini SEM strategy, consisting on targeted long-tail keywords, geographic targets, daily and monthly budgets and specific landing pages, bidding on competition, etc... Funny, the fundamental goals of using paid search is mostly used to either increase Revenue, ROAS, CPA, Pageviews, etc.. I would of never imagined ROAB (Return on Adoption Baby) Everyone knows that Search is an explosive and fast growing industry, but when it allows you to improve your chances on adopting a baby, it's just astonishing.
Anyways, thank you for reading this post and wish me luck. I will be sure to let you know how this all turns out.
