Li Evans:
Hi I'm Li Evans of Search Marketing Gurus and KeyRelevance and I'm here at SES Toronto. I'm with Frederick Marckini of iProspect who gave this morning's keynote about "SEO is Dead".
So what inspired you to really talk about that subject.
Frederick Marckini:
There's a lot of people who get a lot of press making big pronouncements that SEO is Dead. My feeling is that its absolutely not true, in fact the blocking and tackling of SEO is still enormously valuable. Companies that are engaging in it are making a lot of money by being found at the top of the search results. SEO is definitely evolving and its no longer enough to optimize just the website, you have to make sure you have videos optimized for YouTube, that you are posting pictures of your brands on Flickr. That you are engaging your audience to do some of the work with you. But SEO in its basic form of getting high rankings on important keywords is alive and kicking.
Li Evans:
How do you feel about using Social Media to help with your Rankings? Do you feel that's an important thing that companies should look at?
Frederick Marckini:
Absolutely. Social Media is slowly taking over the world. I think that Social Media is increasingly important especially when you see players like YouTube gather a lot of steam. Especially because of Google's Universal Search Results. When Google's pulling photographs, news, shopping and YouTube videos right into the search results and highlighting them with graphics. I think it draws people's attention to those graphics, and if you aren't found there you are really missing big opportunities.
Li Evans:
You also announced that you had something very special launch today. Do you want to give us a little bit of information about that?
Frederick Marckini:
Today we launched iProspect Canada here in Toronto. My mom is from Canada born in Bancroft Ontario, and grew up right in the suburbs of Toronto, so she is very very happy about iProspect Canada. So I dedicated the launch of iProspect Canada to my mom. Hi Mom!
Li Evans:
That's great! Thank you for taking the time to talk to us Frederick.
