Fun Photo Fridays: Jennifer Yuan of 1000 Times No Hangs Out at PodCamp Philly

Yes, it's Saturday morning, seems my last two Fridays escaped me rather quickly!

None the less, I do have a photo this week.  Timely in the fact of our announcement about SearchCamp Philly working with PodCamp Philly to bring an affordable online marketing conference to Philly!  This week's picture is of Jennifer Yuan hanging out at PodCamp Philly last year.  Jennifer is one of the extraordinary people who help to organize PodCamp Philly, she also has her own podcast called "1,000 Times No".

If Jennifer's name sounds familiar, it should for the folks who read SMG on a regular basis.  I interviewed Jennifer for the Women of Internet Marketing series last year.

Fun Photo Fridays: Lorna Harris, Shannon Hall & Lisa Barone, the Newbies at BlogHer 2008

Last night a "Newbie Mixer" kicked off BlogHer 2008 at the top of the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, CA.  There was a lot of newbies in the room, and for the first time in a long time, I hardly new a soul in the room, what an overwhelming feeling.  I did get to meet a few new people introducing myself, since this time - I'm the newbie, and can't expect people to just come up to me.  I had forgotten just how overwhelming that can be.

Then Lisa Barone appeared and it was like "Wow, someone I know, yeah!"  It made me feel a bit more at ease.  Then Lorna Harris of Boudica.com joined our little group.  She totally rocks, btw, and she's the one who gave me the goods on "Danny's New Pimpin' Ride." So here's the Search Engine Industry representing at BlogHer 2008!

Fun Photo Fridays: Tamar Weinberg & Barry Schwartz at SMX West

Deciding to search on back to the beginning of the year, I found this great photo of Tamar Weinberg (Mashable, Lifehacker & SE Roundtable) and Barry Schwartz (RustyBrick, SE Roundtable & Search Engine Land) from SMX West, taken back in February.  This was right before I noticed that Gabe Riveria of Techmeme was standing close by and snagged a picture of these two with him.  I think this might be one of the only pictures I have of Barry where he's not typing on his laptop!

Fun Photo Fridays: Feeding the Yahoo Search Monkey as SES Toronto

Well I missed one week, and I'm late a few days on the Fun Friday Photo.  I certainly hope you can forgive me!  Life has been extremely busy at "home", and unfortunately one or two things have been missed the last two weeks.  Things though, are settling back to normal and I'm hoping by the beginning of next week, my months of hospital visits will be finished (more on that next week!).

So, this week's photo is straight from the Expo Hall Floor at SES Toronto.  I have to say, Yahoo! Canada had the COOLEST booth I've seen in a while.  The folks on Andy Reniersis' team were really clever when they put this together to promote Yahoo's Search Monkey Product.  The booth was totally about monkeys, down to even being able to play against the "Search Monkey" in a game of Mario Cart.  There was this really neat display that was two monkeys with bananas made out of balloons, and even real bananas as a treat.  I even got to interview Andy (video coming tomorrow!) about the Search Monkey product, and then, I got this photo.

Fun Photo Fridays: Wendy Piersall at SEG's Unleashed Fiesta Party

I'm just back from a great time at Blog Potomac that happened in Washington D.C. and haven't even gotten those pictures downloaded from my camera yet, so for this week's photo I decided to pull a really fun one from the Fiesta Party at SEG's Unleashed, Small Business Marketing Conference.

This week's photo is of Wendy Piersall.  Wendy was a speaker at the event and the CEO of Sparkplugging.  If you don't read Wendy's blog, you should.  It's full of light hearted, fun and awesome information.  I got Wendy in a fun moment of laughter, she's even favorited this photo in her own flicker account. :)

Fun Photo Fridays: Dave Naylor & Jim Gilbert are Up to Something at the WebmasterRadio Bash in San Jose!

For this week's choice for our Fun Friday Photo, I decided to go back to last August to SES San Jose.  WebmasterRadio held its wonderful and always fun SearchBash.  Last year's event featured a Sammy Davis, Jr. impersonator and a Dean Martin impersonator as well as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator.

Poor Marilyn, she hasn't a clue what Dave Naylor's planning, and Jim Gilbert's smiling like the cat who just ate the proverbial canary!  These two guys together are real trouble! :)

Fun Photo Fridays: Mike Grehan "Cheers To You" at Search Marketing World 2008

Back in April at the beginning of that month I had the opportunity to travel to Dublin, Ireland to speak at Search Marketing World 2008.  It was my first time in Ireland but my friends from the search industry like Motoko Hunt, Dave Davis & Mike Grehan all helped me out with places to go and visit during my stay there.

Right after the sessions were over at Search Marketing World, there was a networking event.  Everyone was just hanging out, chilling, and generally having a great time.  I snapped this photo of Mike, who's one of my favorite people in this industry, and just loved the way it caught his sense of fun.  He was toasting, "here's to you, Li", and I say "Cheers to You Mike!"

Fun Photo Fridays: Mark Condell & Liana Frey Enjoying the Fun at Big Fish During WOMM-U

I am a few days late with the weekly picture, life it seems, gets the better of me and time just slips by.

However, I do have a picture this week and it features some brand new friends I met at WOMM-U.  In fact, one of my new friends has the exact same spelling as my first name - which, trust me, is rare!  It was one of my goals to meet Liana Frey of Dell, when I went to WOMM-U.  I wasn't disappointed in any way, she's sweet, gracious and fun!  I envy her - getting work on Dell's marketing team with all the Social Media initiatives they are putting in place is just awesome!

I also got the pleasure to meet Mark Condell, from the marketing side of Virgin Mobile.  He tolerated my questions about Sir Richard with such grace and a great smile, and we had a great time while networking at the event at Big Fish in Miami.  Later after the 2nd networking event down in South Beach he ventured with Simon and I up to the beach and watched as I acted like a kid in the waves.

Fun Photo Fridays: Cindy Krum Doing a Tea Trick at SES Denver Training

At the beginning of this week, I had the pleasure of doing the Social Media training in Denver for Search Engine Strategies Training event there.  It was a lot of fun, and was also my first time in Denver.  Those of you who follow me on twitter, saw how I was shocked about how far off in the "boonies" the airport was!

While there, Denver local, Cindy Krum of Blue Moon Works, entertained a few of us.  The first night we met at the Blake Street Tavern - formally the Flying Dog Brewery.  For anyone going there, try the Scratch Ale, it's great!  Then, Tuesday night Cindy took us to Mataam Fez, a Moroccan restaurant that was just a great experience.  Cindy even did a tea trick for us - Cindy, not only are you brave, but you rock! :)
