Liana Evans of Search Marketing Gurus interview Lyndsay Walker about her SES Toronto panel, SEO Don'ts, Myths and Scams and gives some tips for some of those SEO don'ts. Lyndsay also explains a little about what West Jet is doing with SEO and Social Media.

Hi I'm Li Evans of Search Marketing Gurus and KeyRelevance here at Search Engine Strategies Toronto and I'm with Lyndsay Walker of West Jet. How are you doing today?
Lyndsay Walker:
I'm doing pretty good, how are you doing?
Li Evans:
Great! This lovely country up here of yours is just so beautiful.
So you are on a panel here at SES, do you want to tell me a little about it?
Lyndsay Walker:
Sure thing, we're speaking on SEO Don'ts, Myths and Scams. What I'm going to be focusing on today is the don'ts. So what I'll be doing is going over some of the most frequently misused SEO strategies. What I'll also be doing is not just what you shouldn't be doing, but also a good strategy to use in place of that don't. So not just the don'ts but the do's as well.
Li Evans:
So can you give us a little preview, just one little preview of what you are talking about?
Lyndsay Walker:
I think one of the easiest ones that you can do is instead of using graphics, use style sheets. You can do so much more with that, you don't need to have a graphic, if you got a graphic with some really great content, some great text, how about instead use style sheets to create that same background, but then use the text as text itself. Then you have great content there and you don't have to worry about alt tags or keyword stuffing.
Li Evans:
That's an awesome tip!
You work for West Jet, can you explain a little bit about West Jet and what you do for them?
Lyndsay Walker:
Sure. West Jet is Canada's leading low fair airline. So we service Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean as well doing low fare flights. So what I do for them is handle all the web analytics as well as the SEO Campaign which is brand new actually we haven't really started anything with SEO yet, but we are getting really excited about the plan we put together. And we are looking at doing some new kinds of social media as well, using video to market our airline, as well.
